Everyone knows this Diva LOVES her gadgets. And gagdgets which hit right at the crosshairs of form and function are simply a must have! Swarovski has a beautiful new little USB memory key called “Heart Beat” which is beautifully disguised as a heart pendant on a silver silk cord. This lovely polished stainless steel heart is combined with Silver Shade crystals set in Pointiage, to complement any Diva’s bling collection. In reading up on the latest and greatest about anti-aging, we stumbled across a few facts about sun care that we just HAD to share with Divas everywhere. Did you know that even in the shade, you are still exposed to 40% of the sun’s UV radiation? According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer. We discovered articles detailing that sunscreens which boast SPF higher than 30 can do more harm than good because the chemicals needed to make them put you past the point of diminishing returns. Apparently the FDA is going to soon ban any sunscreens which are over SPF 30 because (aside from chemical toxicity), they give the misimpression that one need not reapply throughout the day. The best SPF level to use on a daily basis is between 28 and 30. Anything less simply isn’t enough to protect us from the harm that the sun’s rays can do to our skin. Anything higher runs the risk of having too many chemicals which can easily be absorbed into our skin and contaminate our bodies.

And have you taken a good look at what ingredients are in your sunscreen? If it’s Oxybenzone (aka benzophenone, or methoxybenzone), throw it out! A recent study from the CDC showed that not only does this benzophenone have the potential to penetrate into your BLOOD STREAM, it is also a penetration enhancer, which means it can help other toxins penetrate into your skin! The shocking study also showed that nearly all Americans are contaminated with this popular sunscreen chemical. Back in the 1970’s, it was deemed safe for use (what wasn’t back then?), but apparently new evidence has shed light on the fact that it has been linked to everything from allergies to hormone disruption and even cell damage (according to the Environmental Working Group or “EWG”). It’s been reported that Oxybenzone has even been linked to low birth weight in baby girls whose moms have been exposed to it during pregnancy. Need more convincing?
